Orland American Legion Post 423 was chartered in 1947. It's membership has grown over the years from a small group of about 20 or so WWII Veterans to its present number, which is approaching 700. The Legion's membership is complemented by the Ladies Auxiliary Unit 423 with over 300 members and the Sons of The Legion, Squadron 423, also in excess of 300 members.

The Primary goals of the American Legion are service to community, state and nation. Post 423 has excelled in its efforts to adhere to these goals. Over the past dozen years Post 423 has donated approximately half a million dollars to worthy organizations in the town of Orland and the surrounding county. American Legion Post 423 is dedicated to continuing its endeavors in this type of support in future years

We are proud to welcome any veteran who has served honorably, during time periods recognized by the Legion, to become an active member. Also, any who have recently been or are presently on active duty or who arenow in the reserves, having served on active duty, are welcome to become a member of one of Indiana's finest American Legion Posts.

The Post has a fine hall equipped with a kitchen, full bar, seating and tables for approximately three hundred people and is available for rental by appointment. The hall is also available to community organizations and events at no charge as long as there is no conflicts with Post scheduled events.

Meals are available to the public on a regularly scheduled basis. Monday through Thursday hot lunches are available from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. Wednesday night is "Wing Nite", serving from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Thursday night is "Taco Nite", also from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Friday we serve our famous fish from 11:00am until 8:00 pm in addition to other selections. An evening meal of various entreesis available every Saturday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Bingo is played at the Post every Wednesday and Friday nights beginning at 6:00 pm and every other Sunday at noon. The games are open to the public and those who enjoy playing are welcome to attend.
